Corruption is so endemic in us that we need only divine intervention to save us. We have a slogan, “Corruption will fight back”, which is scary. Is it so potent as to derail due process? Is our judicial process so flawed that corruption will override it?
For corruption to successfully fight back, those who come to equity must come with clean hands. They must, like Caesar’s wife, be above board. And those who allege, must prove!
Now, there is a destructive twin evil of corruption. First is the creation of artificial unearned income. The Yoruba say: “Oogun ti a ko f’owo se,eyin aaro nii gbe!”Translated thus, “Easy come, easy go”! The proceeds of corruption are lavishly spent, with total disregard to economic repercussions.
