The Federal Government’s resolve to pay N5,000 to the vulnerable and unemployed Nigerians is a good idea, but the truth is that the government is attempting to give the multitude of the unemployed a piece of fish, instead of teaching them how to fish.
The programme may end up making some privileged Nigerians millionaires, with ghost names coming into the scheme.
Where is a reliable database of ALL unemployed persons in Nigeria? Which ministry has the capacity to monitor this scheme? What is the N5,000 for? To invest or to consume?
