The Presidency has said that there is no going back on the war against corruption by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari even as it solicited the support of the media for the war to succeed.

Speaking at a three-day retreat organised for State House correspondents in Kaduna, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu said the anti corruption war might offend many people as the President would step on big toes.

According to him, the success of the anti-corruption war would depend largely on the media.

Speaking further at the event hosted by the Kaduna State Government, Shehu maintained that the media needed to expose wrongdoing in order to rid the nation of corruption.

According to him, this is very important because the power of the media lies in its ability to expose wrongdoing of those trying to pull the nation down.

"President Buhari has embarked on an anti-corruption campaign that is bound to offend many. Big toes will be stepped on, personal interests will be cast aside. As the popular saying goes, when you fight corruption, corruption fights back.

"President Buhari has embarked on anti-corruption war and we need the media to expose wrongdoing,
“The power of the media lies in their ability to expose wrong-doing. This power to expose is a far more effective deterrent in many countries", Shehu said.

He, however, urged the media to be accurate and thorough in reporting while rushing to break the news.

Also speaking at the event, Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) inherited a government that was at the tip of collapse.

He said it was unfortunate that the past administration ran the government aground.
