The Federal High Court sitting in Sokoto presided by Justice Rilwan Muhammad Aikawa, on Friday ordered the Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission to appear before it in respect of the registration of Muhtasib Educational Development Foundation.
In a suit filed by Dr. Yakubu Maccido through his counsel, Mr. Shafiu Auta, he had asked the court to stop one Bello Hassan Almustapha of Polytechnic, Sokoto, from using the name 'Muhtasib' as part of Muhtasib Educational Development Foundation.
He averred that the name 'Muhtasib of Sokoto' was conferred on Hon. Abdullahi Maccido Ahmad Grand Khadi of Sokoto(rtd) by late Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammadu Maccido and as such only the title holder and his biological sons and daughters could lawfully make use of the title.
The plaintiff said the use of the name 'Muhtasib' by the Foundation was a gross violation of the legitimate right and dignity of the entire family of "Muhtasib of Sokoto'.
He prayed the court to order the Corporate Affairs Commission to withdraw the certificate of registration granted to the Foundation.
