The Nigerian men’s under-20 team head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has revealed that Victor Osimhen has been cleared to take part in the 2017 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations qualifier in Burundi. Osimhen, 17, suffered what appeared to be a shoulder injury during a friendly with the Nigeria under-23s during the week.
Amuneke, who had feared that the striker may have crocked up ahead of the trip to Burundi, has now disclosed that the Wolfsburg man is fit for the second round, first leg qualifying game of the Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.
“Victor is a strong boy. He is in good condition now to play against Burundi despite our initial fear,” Amuneke said. The Flying Eagles are scheduled to face their Burundian counterparts in Bujumbura on May 21 while the return fixture will be held in Nigeria on the weekend of June 10-12.
