THE Joint Force in the Niger Delta, “Operation Pulo Shield,” has expressed zero tolerance for pipeline vandalism and destruction of critical national assets in the oil-rich region.
The Commander, Major General Alani Okunlola, issued the warning in the wake of threats by a new militant group, ‘Niger Delta Avengers’ to attack oil and gas facilities in the area.
The group had in a recent press statement warned of more attacks on oil installations in a new move it tagged “Operation Red Economy.”
But Okunlola, in a statement issued by the Force’s spokesman, by Lt. Col. Ado Isa, red the riot act, saying the outfit was giving misguided persons another opportunity to stop these acts of economic sabotage and surrender themselves to the rule of law just like some of their colleagues did in the past.
