EMINENT Nigerians, including former Senate President , David Mark and immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim will, next week, grace the unveiling of a book , “Zoning to Unzone:The Politics of Power and the Power of Politics in Nigeria” written by renowned constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome ,SAN.
The event, which will hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, on February 9, has Edo State Governor, Adam Oshiomhole, as chief host, while former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, will serve as the chairman .
A statement by the author , Ozekhome said other guests expected at the high profile event include the vice chairman to the 2014 National Conference, Dr Bolaji Akinyemi, business mogul ,Chief Emeka Offor, Chairman, Daar Communications ,High Chief Aleogho Dokpesi, his Channels Television counterpart ,Mr John Momoh, erstwhile Inspector General of Police and Chairman Police Service Commission, Mike Okiro.
Also, to grace the book presentation are Senators Francis Alimikhena, Shehu Sani, Dino Melaye, Ibn N’Allah, Rafiu Ibrahim, Iyiola Omisore, Matthew Urhoghide, Ndoma Egba, Domingo Obende, Uzamere, and Chief Ben Obi.
Equally billed to attend the book presentation are Senators Daisy Danjuma, Effiong Bob, Ita Giwa, Rowland Ovwie, Anyanwu, Isa Missau, former presidents of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Joseph Daudu, SAN, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, who wrote the foreword to the book.
Speaking to Daily Sun on the book , Ozekhome said Nigeria’s growth had been stunted by recurring politics of zoning, resource control, federal character issues and minority rights.
He regretted that while a clique, who found themselves in the corridors of power, have cooperated in the area of sharing the national wealth among themselves they have not bothered about addressing the poor state of infrastructure , decaying educational system and plight of the poor.
He said the book extensively highlighted all the problems militating against the country.
The author submitted that he did not focus only on the challenges facing Nigeria but also offered solutions to the problems .
The rights activist said: “The book addresses issues about sharing, resource control, minority rights, rotational presidency, plight of the masses, zoning etc. The book will take Nigeria to another altitude . I listed solutions to the problems enumerated in the book.”
