Xmas: Eket royal father advises parents against frivolous spending

Paramount Ruler of Eket in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Edet Abia, has advised parents and guardians to be prudent while shopping for their children and wards for Christmas.
Abia told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Uyo that parents and guardians should remember that payment of school fees in January was around the corner.
“Parents and guardians should not be tempted to spend so much on their children and wards during Christmas only to find it very difficult paying their school fees in January.
“Christmas is a periodic celebration; the current economic situation demands that every household in the country should cut down on their spending.
“My advice to parents and guardians is that they should always be prudent in their spending because there is scarcity of fund and inflation rate is high.
“Wisdom is required in all things we do now to keep our families together in love and peace,” he said.
Abia also advised wealthy Nigerians, including politicians and highly placed government officials, to stop displaying their wealth in public amid thousands of unemployed youths.
He said it was regrettable that the unemployed youths usually scamper for the money the rich always throw about during public functions
The paramount ruler said government as well as wealthy Nigerians at this time should be more concerned about the welfare of the citizens.
