The Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has expressed deep concern over the spate of kidnappings and criminal activities in some parts of the state.
He vowed that his administration would stem the unfortunate tide of events, a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said on Wednesday.
Dickson said the government had finalised plans to unfold a comprehensive security framework to address the current spate of insecurity across the state.
The governor warned that anybody found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with the criminal laws of the state and the country.
Dickson said people should not hastily ascribe motives to the recent kidnappings, noting that the said abductions could be considered and treated as purely criminal actions pending the outcome of investigation into the matter.
While pledging his resolve to deal decisively with those behind the shameful acts, the he explained that efforts were also being stepped up to ensure the safety of lives and property of Bayelsans and other residents.
The governor called on youths not to allow themselves to be used under whatever guise to perpetrate any crime, stressing that no one would be spared when caught.
He urged the people of the state to go about their legitimate duties without any fear of molestation.
He stated that the various security agencies had been put on red alert to track down criminals and their cohorts.
