Eagles move up in FIFA rankings

Nigeria have moved up a spot from the 53rd position they occupied last month to the 52nd position in the latest rankings released by FIFA on Thursday.

The Super Eagles added a point to their previous ranking points of 599 to arrive at 600 points, to move up one step in the table, despite playing two matches since the last rankings.

The points however, have not helped the team’s position on the continent as Nigeria dropped a spot from last month’s ninth to the 10th.

Algeria remain the continent’s top team, tough the North Africans dropped from their 955 points in September to 927 points to place 19th in the world.

Ivory Coast dropped eight points from September’s 924 points to have 916 points in October. They are the 21st team in the world.

Ghana with 849 points, Tunisia with 722 points, Senegal with 713 points, Cape Verde with 701 points, Cameroon with 640 points, Congo with 636 points and Egypt with 620 points are the other teams in the top 10 positions in Africa.

Argentina maintained their leadership in the world with 1419 points. They are trailed by Germany, who overtook Belgium for the second position with 1401 points. Belgium have 1387 points to place third.

Portugal also moved up from September to place fourth while Colombia have dropped to the fifth position with 1228 points. Spain, Brazil, Wales, Chile and England completed the top 10 teams in the world.
