Reps summon Fashola over poor power supply

THE House of Representatives, yesterday, summoned the Minister of Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, over the poor power supply in the country.

Also summoned to proffer solutions towards a sustainable electricity regime are the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), National Electricity and Regulatory Commission (NERC) to a public hearing on epileptic power supply across the nation.

Others to attend the public hearing include the Generation Companies (Gencos), the Distribution Companies (Discos) and other relevant stakeholders in the power sector.

The decision of the House followed the passage of a motion brought under matters of urgent public importance by Johnson Agbonayinma (PDP-Edo) entitled, “Urgent Need to Address the Epileptic Electricity Supply Across the Nation”.

Also yesterday, Chairman, House Committee on Media, Abdulrazak Namdas, defended the amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau Act by the House. The House stripped the President of the powers to appoint members of staff of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
