Troops of the 155 Task Force Battalion, 21 Brigade Nigeria Army destroyed a Boko Haram bomb making factory, during a clearance operations in Wulwuta, near Jere in Bama Local Government of Borno State, killed nine suspected members of the sect and rescued 21 people, who were held hostage by the insurgents.
The authorities of the military also confirmed there was logistics problems at the 7 Division of the Army, but denied that soldiers drawn from the 154 and 155 Task Force battalion, after successfully dislodging insurgents occupying Alagamo, did not have water to quench their thirst, prevented their GOC (General Officer Commanding) from going back to base after addressing them.
A statement issued yesterday in Abuja by the acting Director, Army Public Relations (ag. DAPR) Colonel Sani Usman said the Troops “discovered and destroyed Improvised Explosive Device (IED) factory and cleared Boko Haram terrorists hide out in Wulwuta village, ahead of Jere, Bama Local Government Area.
“During the operation, the troops also killed 9 Boko Haram terrorists, while one of our soldier was wounded in action.”
He said items were recovered from the insurgents, which includes “1 laptop, 1 solar panel, a pair of Nigerian military desert and woodland camouflage uniform each, as well as bandolier vest and 6 ready IEDs pressure plates. Other recoveries include; a loaded pistol with registration number D557954, 3 rounds of 7.65mm, 13 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunitions and combat boots, amongst others.
