FIRST civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, yesterday, described Jafojo as a loyal, committed and dependable deputy governor.
“When I worked with him, he was very loyal, dependable and committed as a deputy governor; he was also a loyal party man.
“The state and the country will miss him greatly and I will miss him too,’’ said Jakande.
Jafojo died on Saturday in his Lagos residence at the age of 80.
Jafojo served as a deputy to akande on return of the country to civil rule from 1979 to 1983
Also, current Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule on Sunday mourned Alhaji Rafiu Jafojo and described him as a visionary leader who also laid the foundation for the development of the state.
Adebule described him as a very good man who served the state as a deputy governor with Jakande and that the duo made a good team.
“The foundation they laid is what every other administration in the state has been building upon.
“He was a visionary leader and placed the development of the people and the state in his heart; he was always passionate about the plight of the people,’’ she said.
Mr Adekunle Adeogun, Executive Secretary, Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, also said Jafojo was a father to all in Ikeja and the state.
“During his lifetime, he was always accessible to all in Ikeja and its divisions; always advising us on how to make life better for the people,” he said. One of the sons of the deceased, Adewale, also described his father as a selfless leader, a mentor who loved to empower and help the people.
