Jakande, Adebule mourn ex-Lagos deputy gov



FIRST civilian governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, yester­day, described Jafojo as a loyal, committed and dependable deputy gov­ernor.
“When I worked with him, he was very loyal, dependable and commit­ted as a deputy governor; he was also a loyal party man.
“The state and the country will miss him greatly and I will miss him too,’’ said Jakande.
Jafojo died on Saturday in his Lagos residence at the age of 80.
Jafojo served as a dep­uty to akande on return of the country to civil rule from 1979 to 1983
Also, current Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule on Sunday mourned Alhaji Rafiu Ja­fojo and described him as a visionary leader who also laid the foundation for the development of the state.
Adebule described him as a very good man who served the state as a depu­ty governor with Jakande and that the duo made a good team.
“The foundation they laid is what every other administration in the state has been building upon.
“He was a visionary leader and placed the de­velopment of the people and the state in his heart; he was always passion­ate about the plight of the people,’’ she said.
Mr Adekunle Adeo­gun, Executive Secretary, Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, also said Jafojo was a father to all in Ikeja and the state.
“During his lifetime, he was always accessible to all in Ikeja and its divi­sions; always advising us on how to make life better for the people,” he said. One of the sons of the deceased, Adewale, also described his father as a selfless leader, a mentor who loved to empower and help the people.
