It seems the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) still has a lot of work to do if it hopes to make any meaningful impact in the 2019 elections, as the loyalty of its leadership is still in doubt.
Going by revelations of the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the embattled national chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff will not work in the interest of the party, but his tenure will turn out to be a plus for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ganduje told select newsmen in Abuja, that the tough talk by Sheriff that PDP will bounce back in 2019, is mere talk, as he would work for the APC.
He said “I don’t like to engage in crossfire but I will like to tell you it is the normal utterances of those who will want to impress his followers but I believe it is an empty threat.”
According to him, APC is happy that Sheriff is leading the PDP because in the long run his tenure will favour the APC.”
“That is what I believe, we are happy because we believe in the long run, he will work for us. Find out his history and you will believe me.”
He continued, “Looking at the history of the chairman himself, I think he is a cross carpeter, he is always on the move, changing from one party to another.
“Even when he was in ANPP for 8 years he was working for PDP and even the APC started with him and then he went back with PDP and in the long run he will work for us”, he said.
