Ikpeazu sacks council transition committees

ABIA State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has dissolved local council transition committees and approved the reconstitution of nine of them, in which the former military administrator of Cross River State, Rtd. Navy Captain Chris Osondu, is to head Isuikwuato local council.
Other local councils whose committees were reconstituted include Arochukwu, Bende, Ikwuano, Umuahia South, Aba South, Aba North, Osisioma Ngwa and Umunneochi.
Coincidentally, these nine local councils are areas in which re-run election has been scheduled to hold on Saturday.
Confirming the development, the Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe said on Tuesday that the lawmakers had to cut short their March 7 resumption to attend to the letter from the governor requesting that they ratify the new nominees for the local transition committees.
Ndukwe told The Guardian said that the House would today (yesterday) take constitutional clearance action on the nine nominees while awaiting the list of nominees for the remaining eight local councils
