Ladoja didn’t delay Oyo council poll’

A former governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, said he was not responsible for the delay in conducting local government council election in the state.
Ladoja said this in Ibadan, on Sunday, when he debunked a statement credited to the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Abiola Ajimobi, Yomi Olayinka, who blamed the inability to conduct LG poll on Ladoja.
The former governor said the claim was unfortunate and ludicrous.
Ladoja’s media aide, Lanre Latinwo, who said this in a statement issued in Ibadan on Sunday, claimed that the comment by Olayinka was made in a news programme aired on the state-owned television station, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State.
He said Olayinka’s comment was far from the truth, noting that Ladoja had nothing to do with the present administration’s inability to conduct the council poll.
The statement said, “It was the administration of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala that dissolved the said OYOSIEC board and not Ladoja, and even at that, Alao-Akala conducted local government elections in spite of dissolving a properly constituted electoral body.”
