I’m not in Super Eagles for cash —Igbonu

\Super Eagles striker, Sylvester Igbonu, has said he places Nigeria ahead of financial benefits, after a report in a Nigerian newspaper quoted him as saying the country should stop owing its footballers money.
The FC Ufa man, who snubbed advances from Denmark to play for Nigeria, said he would never shun international call-ups because of financial considerations, adding that it was a rare privilege to wear Nigeria’s colours at senior level.
“I never made the comments ascribed to me in that story, so I was surprised when I read it online. It’s not in my character to make such comments; I have never placed money ahead of playing for my fatherland because Nigeria is bigger than any amount of money,” the ex-FC Midtjylland forward stated.
