Watford striker Odion Ighalo says he will find it hard to turn down an offer from Manchester United. The 26-year-old has been in excellent form for the Hornets this term, scoring 14 goals in 20 appearances for the club.
“There has been speculation from Spain and Italy but I’ve played there and now want to play in England,” he told The Sun.
“I don’t think I will be moving but I’m not sure I’d say no if United called. They were my team growing up. I loved watching Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke on TV. They were my idols and playing at Old Trafford has always been a dream.”
Below, Nigerians bare their minds on Ighalo’s wish to play for United:
I don’t think Manchester United’s pattern would suit him, but I would like such a move to come through; Odion is a great guy and a great striker
At the moment Man United have one good striker but don’t have a reserve striker. So I’ll say ‘yes’ he should because anytime Anthony Martial is not playing well, United have no top striker like Ighalo as substitute for him. It would be a good opportunity for him at this point in his career.

No, at least not in the January transfer window. Moving to Man United with players who seem not to be motivated will bring his game and his goals down. He’s found a massive good scoring rhythm at Vicarage Road and he should stay and finish his good work and then move to Man United in the summer if they really need him.

No. I don’t think the way Man United are playing will suit him and it’s better for him to stay in his present club to create more confidence and goal scoring chances for himself. It will take him another step starting in United.

It’s a big leap for him but he would be coming under severe pressure; there are too many large boots to fill. Personally I would have him finish the season with Watford then take it up from there. When you come to a big club that would compare you to their legends like Sir Bobby Robson, Denis Law, Van Nilsterooy, Andy Cole, Wayne Rooney, you have to think twice. But if he likes challenges and can live with people all over the world demanding he scores 20 or more goals every season, then he can move to Old Trafford.

I think he should still remain in his club for now because Man United are still yet to reach peak form. And you never can tell who will pick up the Red Devils’ manager’s job, because Louis van Gaal’s position is shaky. Playing regularly is what makes a player. We had some transfers like Fernando Torres to Chelsea, Alex Song to Barca and Falcao to Monaco. These are great players who were at their peak but the transfers never favoured them.

He had better stay put at Watford, where he has been doing very well since he joined them last season.
