Police begin manhunt for culprits of Peremabiri violence

BAYELSA State Police Command has commenced investigations into alleged killings and attacks in Peremabiri community in Southern Ijaw local government in a post-election violence which rocked the community.
Six people were reportedly killed while several others including the traditional ruler, King Progress Neverdie were dealt with life-threatening injuries allegedly carried out by armed men, led by a former militant leader.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Asinim Butswat, who confirmed reports of the violence, said police would investigate the number of casualties.
He said police has deployed a team to the community to maintain law and order and prevent out-break of further violence.
However, a police source said the investigation has commenced to identity the perpetrators of the violence and bring them to book.
Meanwhile, the Restoration Campaign Organisation has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the just concluded election in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, would still lose at the tribunal if he decides to contest the outcome of the election because he has no case.
In a statement yesterday and made available to the media, Director of Publicity of the PDP Camapaign Organisation, Jonathan Obuebite, said the election was already won and lost going by what he regarded as “overwhelmimg support and voting trend in favour of PDP,” by the electorate across the state.
