PDP senators shop for new party chairman, NWC members

Disturbed by the unending crisis rocking the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the party’s serving senators, yesterday, held an emergency caucus meeting to proffer solutions.
The meeting was held at the instance of Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Bwacha
The meeting started soon after yesterday’s plenary, and ended at about 2:00pm with members agreeing it was time to shop for new leaders for the party.
A lawmaker, who declined to be named, said members were worried over recent indictments of some of their leaders, adding that if the party was ready to remain relevant, there was need to inject new blood.
The senator did not, however, reveal the deadline set by the PDP caucus members within which, they are expected to move against the current leadership of the party and insist on new ones.
“We believe it is time to replace the current leadership. Many of them have been indicted in the ongoing arms deal scam. That is not good for the image of our party. We will meet again soon to decide on the next line of action,” one of the senators who spoke to Daily Sun said.
