FORMER Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, yesterday threatened to file a suit against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Acting National Chairman, Chief Uche Secondus seeking contempt of court against them.
He said both were disobeying the Federal Capital Territory [FCT] High Court judgment which directed Secondus vacate office within 14 days.
Gulak who said he will explore all legal means to enforce the judgment, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] not to recognise the national organs and leadership of the PDP until the ruling is obeyed by appointing him or any other eligible member of the party from the North-East as the Acting National Chairman until elections are conducted to substantially fill the vacancy.
In addition, in a letter to INEC Chairman dated December 30, 2015, Gulak further asked the electoral body to decline to give further recognition to Chief Secondus as the Acting National Chairman and to direct the party to comply with the order of the court or face lawful sanction in line with the powers of INEC under the Constitution.
The letter which emanated from the law firm of Jibril Okutepa [SAN] and signed by John Matthew, urged the INEC to give effect to the said judgment in line with its powers under the 3rd Schedule, Part one of the 1999 Constitution to monitor the organization and operation of political parties.
Addressing journalists in his office yesterday, Gulak said he would enforce the court judgment.
