NIGERIANS have been urged to focus their attention more on life after death by not limiting their hope to this world because there is life after death for the righteous ones.
The exhortation was given at the burial service and interment of former Head of Department of Dramatic Arts, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, late Professor Foluke Ogunleye, who lost her life in a ghastly road accident on December 26, 2015, on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at the age of 53.
She was the elder sister of Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Femi Adesina, and Director of General Studies, University of Ibadan, Prof Tayo Adesina.
Prof Chris Agulanna of the Department of Philosophy of the University of Ibadan and Pastor James Sangodokun, delivered the exhortation on Friday during burial service for the deceased at the Deeper Life Bible Church, New Gbagi, Ibadan in Oyo State, and interment at St James’ Cathedral Cemetery, Ijokodo, Ibadan.
Agulanna, who urged all and sundry to let their hopes transcend this world, explained that human beings have two options, either to go to Heaven or hell. According to him, anyone whose hope transcends this world would shun evil and embrace godliness. But those whose hopes are limited to this world would end up in hell if they fail to repent.
He described the late Prof Ogunleye as highly cerebral, had high quality thinking, intelligent and wise, an achiever and a goal-getter, adding that she was a committed Christian.
Also, Pastor Sangodokun admonished Nigerians, irrespective of social status, to be righteous, adding that death is not the most tragic thing in the world, but living without fulfilling the purpose of God.
The dignitaries who graced the service included the General Overseer of Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, Rev Felix Meduoye; former Minister of Petroleum, Prof Tam David-West; and Chief Executive Officer, Iykedons Consultancies Limited, Dr. (Mrs.) Nwando Okereke.
