Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, Super Eagles Ogenyi Onazi and former Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama were among those who condoled with the Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday following the death of the NFF’s Head of Protocol, Ibrahim Abubakar.
Abubakar was shot dead by suspected armed robbers in his house on Oluwunmi Crescent, Kado Estate, Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Wilson Inalegwu, vowed that the Police would fish out the killers.
He made the pledge when he arrived at the house at 8.20am according to NFF officials. And after inspecting the scene of the incident and the environment, he said the Police would do everything to nab those who took Abubakar’s life.
Dalung was one of the very first visitors to the NFF Secretariat.
“We pray that the Lord will console the family he left behind, the NFF and the entire football family. May God grant him eternal rest. Amen,” Dalung said.
Onazi wrote via his twitter handle, “Very sad to hear about the unfortunate loss of Ibrahim Abubakar. Rest in Peace! Our prayers are with the family you left behind.”
At the burial ceremony in Kaduna on Wednesday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Sanusi in company with a delegation that included Ademola Olajire (Assistant Director, Communications), met with the parents of the late Ibrahim and offered prayers for the repose of his soul.
