‘LASG winning war on Island’s gridlock’

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Agboola Dabiri, says the government is winning the war on gridlock on the Lagos Island, while more time is being created for business.
Dabiri, who said the improvement on the Lagos Island Central Business District was due to the efforts of personnel and cooperation of stakeholders, noted that everything was being done to ensure that hours wasted in traffic by Lagosians to transact business were drastically reduced.
He said this during the visit of members of the Lagos State House Committee on CBDs on Wednesday.
He said, “The government has put necessary machineries in motion that have led to drastic reduction in traffic situation in places like Apongbon, Broad Street and Nnamdi Azikwe.
“Enormous resources have been committed by the government to make CBD work. Personnel have had to work non-stop throughout the Yuletide and beyond to maintain order and make Lagosians obey the rules and regulations guiding the CBD.”
The Chairman, House Committee on Central Business Districts, Victor Akande, commended the leadership of the CBD, as well as the personnel.
He said their mastery of the enormous challenges facing the CBD and their strong commitment was “making things to work despite all odds.”
“You have done well and God will continue to rekindle your strength and energy to achieve enormous success in the desire to turn CBD around for the better,” Akande said.
