FGGC Sagamu Alumni in US Announce 2016 Event

The United States chapter of Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Sagamu Alumni has commenced preparations for its 2016 reunion.
The event which is slated to hold in Atlanta on April 30, 2016, is a follow-up to the 5th FGGC Sagamu Alumni Reunion in the US which took place on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda Maryland.

A statement jointly signed by Modupe Olatunji-Adekanmbi and Abimbola Art-Alade,
President and Vice President respectively on behalf of FSAI Board of Directors, said the association was making preparations for “an even bigger event in 2016.”
Recalling the reunion held this year, it said: “The 2015 reunion event was a tremendous success. The success was measured by the fact that the attendees represented several sets and came from many cities within the United States and Nigeria.

“We also had distinguished guests from different sectors of business and government in attendance including the Honorable Dr. Anu A. Esuola, Commissioner/Chair Health Sub Committee of Maryland’s Governor’s Commission on African Affairs and Mrs. Fortuna Bucknor from Women of Vision.”

In the statement, the association expressed appreciation to all attendees and sponsors including The Potters Signature, UNICAS LLC, SimiWeave™, WholeSaleAfricanLace, Double2 Accessories, Akteja Fumigation & Pest Control Limited and Temi Eka of Chapman Realty Hall.

“We are also grateful for the support we received from African celebrities - BankyW,  El Dee, Olumento_Show and Darey,” it added.
The association also solicited for support from alumni and friends to ensure the full execution of upcoming projects which include Internet Connectivity Upgrade, Coding Club and Health/ Wellness.

“Our goal is to initiate at least one of these in 2015”, the statement said while also directing those who might want to support its activities to visit www.fggcsalumniusa.com and click on the ‘Support’ us link.

“FGGC Sagamu Alumni USA is a tax-exempt Section 501c3 organization, therefore all donations are tax deductible in the USA,” it added.
The USA chapter was established in July 2011 and formally registered as a non-profit organisation in November of same year. The major goal of the organisation is to bring together and leverage members network to raise funds and resources to support its Alma mater.  Other goals include providing support to members and sister organisations across the globe by leveraging individual and collective resources and talents.

The achievements of the US chapter of the alumni include the upgrade of the school library (donation of books, air conditioning unit and book shelves)  and alumni assistance program (payment of medical costs for two alumni, including surgical fees for alumnus with cancer).
