Ekiti State House of Assembly yesterday alleged Federal Government’s attempt to use the report of the indictment of some military officers who participated in the last governorship election in the state to upturn Governor Ayodele Fayose’s election on June 21, 2014, will be resisted by the people.
The assembly, cut short its recess expected to end on January 25 for a special plenary, presided over by Speaker Kola Oluwawole, accused the Federal Government of plotting to resort to extra-judicial means, if the military panel fails to achieve its set target.
“We are aware of the plot by APC-led Federal Government to intimidate, muzzle and kill the voice of opposition elements most especially Governor Fayose because of his stand on national issues.”
The assembly who also passed a vote of confidence on Fayose over his contributions on national politics, accused the military of bias, for indicting the officers that monitored Ekiti, but exonerated same officers in their activities in Osun and Edo polls. The speaker, in a speech presented by Aribisogan on his behalf at a press conference after the session, said composition of the Major Gen Adeniyi Oyebade military tribunal was an affront on the Supreme Court, which had earlier adjudged the June 21 governorship poll as credible and transparent.
