The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Mustapha Magu, Tuesday said the commission had never disobeyed any court order while investigating allegations of corruption against prominent Nigerians.
He also said the commission was very conscious of the extant laws in dealing with suspects, noting that its activities would not in anyway violate an order of the court.
Magu stated this yesterday during a brief interaction with journalists at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
He explained that the EFCC would not spare anyone fingered to have engaged in corrupt practices, but said its investigation and eventual prosecution would be conducted within the confines of the law.
“EFCC have never and will never disobey court orders, it is not even because of EFCC, it is not because of the president, but for the sake of Nigeria. We will never disobey any court order,” he said.
Magu however appealed for media cooperation in the commission’s fight against corruption, adding that said the media was a stakeholder in the war against graft.
“I am very happy about your turn-out, our doors are opened, we don’t have anything to hide now, please feel free, the media is a major partner in the anti-corruption fight,” Magu stated.
