Eagles ready for CHAN –Oliseh

SUPER Eagles Coach Sunday Oliseh has given a pass mark to the 23-players currently camping in South Africa ahead of CHAN 2016 billed for Rwanda, declaring that the team is ready for the championship.
Oliseh’s declaration came yesterday afternoon after the team concluded its workout. According to the team’s media officer, Toyin Ibitoye who spoke to our correspondent from their base in South Africa, the coach was elated with the spirit and current form of the boys in camp.
“Everything is going on just fine and the coach has expressed satisfaction with the players. The team is in- jury free and we’re set for the friendly against Angola tomorrow.”
As part of preparations for the friendly, the Eagles team will play a friendly against PSL side, Univer- sity of Pretoria today. The club is 15th on the 16-team Premier Soccer League table with six points from 11 matches.
Meanwhile, Oliseh had confirmed that Chima Akas will captain the side to the 2016 African Nations Championship which commences on January 16 in Rwanda.
Gbolahan Salami, who was captain during the qualifying series, is absent from the squad in his bid to seal a foreign deal.
This left Akas, the assistant captain and player with the highest number of caps remaining in camp, to lead the team. With that, the vice-captain role is vacant with the Super Eagles technical crew set to appoint a player to assist Akas. Goal gathered that either Paul On- obi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa or Austin Obaroakpo are in contention to be announced as deputy skipper.
Nigeria begin her CHAN 2016 campaign against Niger Republic on January 18 at the Stade Régional Nyamirambo, Kigali before facing Tunisia and Guinea in Group C. The Super Eagles B were hoping to go a higher than their third place finish at the 2014 edition staged in South Africa where they made their debut.
