Super Eagles assistant coach Jean Francois Losciuto had a surgery on Saturday in Pretoria, South Africa, venue of the team’s camp ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship in Rwanda.
The Belgian was in severe discomfort before he was taken to hospital, where doctors reportedly found a small metal in his stomach during the surgery.
A top of official of the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed the incident saying the football body footed the medical bills.
“The NFF paid the money for the surgery. The coach is doing very well and is still a key part of the team,” the NFF official told SUNDAY PUNCH.
Losciuto will now have to recuperate fast, so he can join other members of the Eagles technical crew coach Sunday Oliseh, Salisu Yusuf (assistant coach) and Aloy Agu (goalkeepers’ trainer) for the trip to Rwanda on January 15.
The 2016 CHAN begins on January 16, with Nigeria playing Niger Republic in their opening group game two days later.
