RUMOURS: Abramovich to hand Guardiola unlimited war chest
The Russian patron is willing to spare no expense to take the 44-year-old, who will leave Bayern Munich in the summer, to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is determined to lure Pep Guardiola to Stamford Bridge by offering him both a masive contract and the means to overhaul his squad, according to the Daily Mail.
The Catalan will depart Bayern Munich at the end of the season when his contract expires, though he has yet to announce where he will coach next.
Goal understands Manchester City are the prime candidates to secure him to replace Manuel Pellegrini, but Abramovich - who dismissed Jose Mourinho on Thursday - is reportedly planning to scupper City's interest.
The Russian billionaire is prepared to match whatever wages Guardiola asks for, while opening the cheque book for the 44-year-old to embark on a spending spree to reshape the Blues in his image.
The Daily Mail are reporting that ex-Barcelona boss Guardiola has indicated up to 10 players need to be signed to make the ailing Premier League champions competitive on all fronts again.
They add that they hope to steal a march on City by exploiting the preference his wife, Cristina Serra, has for a move to London instead of Manchester.
