Ogbonnaya Onu launches book on APC merger

FROM FRED ITUA, ABUJA
Minister of Science and Technology and one of the founding national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has concluded plans to present to the world, a landmark book written by him entitled, “From Opposition to Governing Party: Nigeria’s APC Merger Story.”
In the 470-page book published by Landmark Books, Dr. Onu told the story of why and how Africa’s first successful merger of major opposition political parties which made history by winning the 2015 general election in Nigeria, was formed.
He also narrated with breathtaking details, the roles played by other stakeholders in the process, the challenges encountered, the sacrifices made and more importantly, the prospects which APC holds in future for effective political competition to thrive and endure in Nigeria’s multi party democracy.
Divided into 25 Chapters with illustrative photographs and maps, issues such as the pre-merger discussions, major interventions, the politics of APC registration by INEC, consolidating the merger process, among others, were discussed by the author in a simple but engaging manner.
An insightful foreword to the book was written by President Muhammadu Buhari. Also a stimulating comment was written by former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Center with dignitaries drawn from the political and business class, members of the Diplomatic Corps, the academia, traditional and religious leaders, as well as, opinion moulders from different parts of the country.
