Leave the streets now, Fayose tells traders

Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has again warned against street trading and urged traders displaying their wares on major streets of the state capital to relocate to Awedele and Agric Olope markets.
The governor also appealed to traders displaced by the reconstruction of the Erekesan Market in Ado-Ekiti to move to alternative sites provided by the state government.
According to a statement on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governor said street trading and blocking roads with wares would no longer be tolerated.
Also, the wife of the governor, Mrs. Feyisetan, has said it is now a crime in Ekiti State for parents to engage their girl-child in hawking during the school hours.
She spoke in Ado Ekiti during a programme marking the international Day of the Girl-Child.
Mrs Fayose, however, warned girl child against indulging in any promiscuous relationship with elderly men ,who according to her, are out to ruin their career.
She frowned on the reported cases of raping of girl child, regretting that most of the causes of rape were caused by the girls.
She noted that most girls wore clothes considered offensive or that would further expose their bodies to their male counterparts.
She, however, called on the parents to be the chief mentor of their girl-child, noting that the primary responsibility of bringing up their girl child revolved round the parents.
