Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has promised that his administration would give police and other security agencies in the state maximum support to enable them discharge their duties of crime fighting and prevention in the state.
Ikpeazu who made the promise in Aba at a one-day stakeholders’ forum organised by the police in the city, disclosed that part of his administration’s plans was to make Aba and other parts of the state conducive for habitation and growth of economic activities by tackling insecurity headlong.
Ikpeazu, speaking through his special adviser on Security matters, Capt. Awa Udonsi (rtd.), intimated that plans were on the way to provide operational vehicles equipped with modern communication gadgets for the police and other security agencies in the state to enhance inter-agency communication and improve on their response time to distress calls from members of the public.
The governor added that plans had been concluded to mount close circuit television cameras (CCTV) and vehicle tracking devices at some strategic locations in Aba and other places as was obtainable in modern societies, stressing that such step would monitor activities of criminals in the area.
Ikpeazu further stated that the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of roads in Aba and other parts of the state by his administration would when completed not only give the state a facelift, but would also improve the level of security in the state.
