A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and current Chairman, Egbema and Gbaramatu Development Council, Chief Michael Johnny, has warned that any one who instigates Niger-Delta youths against President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration will be treated as a criminal and saboteur.
He said President Buhari’s administration means well for Niger- Delta, especially the Ijaw ethnic nationality.
The Ijaw leader, who made the assertion during a press briefing yesterday in Warri, Delta State, wondered why miscreants, who do not see anything good in the current peace pervading the region, still go ahead to malign the present administration.
He warned that anyone who has a case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should carry his cross and stop instigating Ijaw youths against the Buhari-led APC administration.
The Ijaw leader said his people are no enemy of Buhari, whose vision, he said, was to transform the Niger-Delta, particularly, the Ijaw, who have been suffering untold hardship due to oil exploration and exploitation in their land.
Calling on the youths to join hands with the president in the fight against insecurity, the APC stalwart stressed that curtailing the excesses of Boko Haram and others was the responsibility of all.
He urged the president to empower the amnesty programme by increasing the budgetary allocation, which, he said, serves as the panacea to youth’s restiveness in the region.
On the Marine University at Okereukoko, the Ijaw leader pleaded with the Federal Government to allow work on the school go ahead adding, “It is the only palliative programme being enjoyed in Gbaramatu kingdom and, indeed, Ijaw land,” he said.
