‘DSS Yet To Release Dasuki Despite Fulfilling Bail Conditions’
One of the lead lawyers to the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), Mr Ahmed Raji (SAN) has disclosed that the Department of State Security (DSS) has refused to release his client in spite of the perfection of the third bail conditions.
The DSS was said to have re-arrested Dasuki shortly after perfecting the third bail granted him by Justice Peter Affenof an Abuja High Court.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP last night over the matter , Raji stated that the former NSA had met all the bail conditions as directed by Justice Affen, saying, however, that the court order was not obeyed by the operatives of the DSS.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja had also granted bail to Dasuki on November 3 over his alleged involvement in unlawful possession of firearms.
But the DSS laid siege on his Asokoro residence and placed him under house arrest on the grounds that he (Dasuki) was being investigated on another matter.
He was later arraigned before Justice Yusuf Baba of the Abuja High Court on breach of trust while the court later admitted him to bail.
Dasuki was also brought before Justice Peter Affem who also admitted him on bail on the grounds that the offence was a bailable one.
Dasuki’s lawyer , however, appealed to the DSS and the federal government to respect court order and allow Dasuki to enjoy the temporary freedom granted to him by competent courts in the land.
