The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has concluded plans to arraign former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on November 9 on a four-count criminal charge bordering on breach of Code of Conduct of Bureau and Tribunal Act.
This is sequel to a service of summon on Thursday on the former minister by the bailiff of the Code of Conduct Tribunal yesterday. The charges were filed by Peter Danladi of CCB, on October 8 on behalf of the Attorney General of the Federation.
Orubebe is also accused of “failing to declare a property at Plot 2059 Asokoro District, and of asking for and accepting a bribe of N50 million from one Pastor (Dr.) Jonathan Alota, on or about September 19, 2012 for the contract awarded in favour of his company, Chemtronics Nigeria Ltd.
The CCB also accuses Orubebe of receiving another N20 million from Alota as bribe for the N1.7 billion contract for the construction of a skills acquisition centre in Edo State. According to the return date of the summons, Orubebe would be arraigned on November 9 when he is expected to enter a plea on the charges.
