‘Buhari needs support to fight corruption’

A group, Civil Enlightenment Organisation of Nigeria, has called on Nigerians to support the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group said corruption was capable of derailing the country’s democracy, adding that the President alone cannot fight the war against graft.

The national coordinator of the group, Dr. Remi Aroyehun, said this in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos.

He said, “The fight against corruption is an investment in the future of a nation .If the government wins, the future is bright. If the war is lost, the future is bleak. This is the more reason why the war cannot be left for the government alone; the more reason why the war must be effectively managed and won at all possible cost.

‘‘When it comes to waging war against corruption in the banking and finance sector, there are a lot of reasons why the government may not win. Some of us in Non-Governmental Organisations are often sceptical about the possibility of victory for the government.”

Aroyehun said that the Federal Government needed to focus on value re-orientation in its war against corruption, money laundering and other financial crimes.
