EFCC Quizzes Ex-Kebbi Gov, Dakingari

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), yesterday grilled a former governor of Kebbi State, Saidu Nasamu Dakingari over an alleged fraud committed when he held sway as governor of the North West state .

According to Daily Sun, the investigation of Dakingari started few months after he left office as governor.

Prior to his invitation by the EFCC, the embattled former governor, who was one of the few prominent political leaders from the core North, who openly campaigned for former President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term, was under investigation.

Confirming the arrest to Daily Sun, EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren said the former governor was at the national headquarters of the anti-graft agency to respond to allegations of fraud.

It could not be ascertained how much was allegedly frittered away by the former governor. “Yes, he (Dakingari) was here. He was interrogated by EFCC officials,” Uwujaren said in a telephone chat.

As at the time of filing in this report, it could not be ascertained if he would return to the EFCC office for further interrogation.
