The bill sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party member representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, to check mental disorderliness, passed first reading in the upper chamber on Thursday.
The bill titled, “Mental Health Bill 2015,” when eventually passed, is expected to tackle source, causes and effects of mental sicknesses.
Kashamu is currently being investigated by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency on issues relating to drug abuse which, experts claimed, remained the major cause of mental ailments among the youths.
