Shame! Expelled Member Of Ikoyi Club, Femi Onanuga, Makes It Into Governor Ambode's Cabinet

-Lagos governor shortlists him even after he was indicted for corruption
-Ambode appoints wife as DG Pension Commission

'Change' was a story told by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its ploy to grab power from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Now that the APC has attained political power, 'change' is persistently retold and projected like the glare of false science principally to bewilder and dazzle the politically and psychologically bland.
As the APC immerses itself in the business of governance, the party's actions continually contradicts its much hyped philosophy and manifesto of positive 'change.' While the citizenry struggle to wrap their heads around the party's appointment of certain shady characters into high offices and very crucial departments of government, the party springs fresh surprises to the consternation of the electorate that trooped out en masse to cast their votes for the party's candidates.
Forget the party's adoption of Abubakar Audu as its gubernatorial candidate in Kogi, in Lagos, more travesties are being committed by the APC. Recently, Governor Akinwumi Ambode incited the wrath of the electorate, particularly members of the Ikoyi Club 1938, Lagos. Against the club's advice, Ambode selected Dr. Olufemi Onanuga, a former member of the club for appointment into his cabinet. Ambode shortlisted Onanuga for the role of commissioner or special adviser perhaps even after the Ikoyi Club alerted him to the fact that Onanuga was recently expelled from the club for corruption.
A report by the club's trustees ad hoc disciplinary committee following investigation of Onanuga's tenure as one of the club's executives reveals that he was expelled for financial misconduct.
The reports states: "When Dr Onanuga was confronted with all issues raised in the Terms of Reference, his only defence was a copy of approval from the minutes of a General Committee meeting, which allowed him as an EMERGENCY measure, for the purchase of first set of furniture. Rather than follow the procedure as stipulated in the Green book, he continued as chairman of PPMC in collusion with former GM Mr Adeola to use the said approval for all the purchases with frivolous prices.   He also could not defend the issue of his spending over N400,000 on recharge cards; sadly too, he said he did not know where the money for recharge card was coming from. The new GM however said, it was money signed for on ‘Petty Cash Voucher’ that was handed over to Dr Onanuga. This panel therefore recommends that Dr ‘Femi Onanuga be expelled from the club."
The Trustees of Ikoyi Club 1938 had set up an Ad hoc Disciplinary Committee under the Chairmanship of Rear Admiral O.O.Joseph (rtd), M/No, J388 to discipline some members of Ikoyi Club; pursuant to the Findings/Recommendations of the following Trustees Investigation Panels; Trustees Investigation Panel into the financial activities of Ikoyi Club 1938 between 26/2/2004 and 25/2/2009 and Trustees Investigation Panel into some Financial/Administration Activities in Ikoyi Club 1938.
In the light of the revelation, Governor Ambode's decision to shortlist Onanuga as a member of his cabinet no doubt raises serious questions pertaining to the APC's celebrated mantra of 'change' and anti-corruption stance.
Interestingly, his wife, Folashade has been appointed by Ambode as  the new Director General of Lagos State Pension Commission. That means the husband and wife would be top executives in Ambode's new cabinet.
