The portrait they present is arresting and breathtaking: the pomp and circumstance, pageantry and elegance so clearly defined and characteristic of solemnities perpetuated by historic monarchies, but with a contemporary difference that’s hip and humanizing. Their story reads like a fable, a rousing tale of a charming prince and princess caught in irreducible splendor of love hewed in honesty and a royal palace. It was the stuff of which fairy tales are made. Lamido is in love!
If theirs was a false love or the pedestrian passion characteristic of lust aping love, like all parties caught in the deceptive throes of such love, the marriage last Friday wouldn’t have taken place. But the love that unites HRH Sanusi, former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and his daughter-like wife, defies the strains and bounds of common love; it is what it is, peerless.
Sanusi is no superman after all. Like the average man next door, he loves a rosy cheek; he admires coral lips, and lusts for the spark of star-like eyes to maintain his libidinal fires. He is just human! He has blood running in his veins too. Behind the steely, plain-speaking demeanour that has become identifiable with him, there is soft inside him. There are women who make his heart flutter and palpitate uncontrollably with passion. The 18-year old becomes the emir’s fourth wife. She recently completed secondary school and is been enrolled for advanced level studies. In addition to his first wife, Sadiya, who is the daughter of the late emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, Mr. Sanusi has two other wives — Maryam and Rakiya. The secret wedding was contracted in a low-keyed ceremony in the town of Yola. As you read, Lamido and his new wife are locking lips and knocking and entwining knees again.
