At the resumed hearing today at the Akwa Ibom Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja to hear the petition brought by Umana Okon Umana, the APC Governorship Candidate against Udom Emmanel of the PDP and INEC, the court room was already filled while the Tribunal Panel members were seated and ready to commence hearing, counsel to PDP made an oral application for today’s sitting to be adjourned to tomorrow to enable them reach their witnesses.
The truth of the matter is that the news of various disgrace brought upon Udom Emmanuel by his witnesses for the past for sittings had filtered into town thereby creating serious fears in the other listed witnesses that were supposed to testify for PDP today.
It would be recalled that Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, Udom Emmanuel’s Star witness who was the State Collation Agent for PDP/Udom Emmanuel was stood down from testifying to support their defence, on the discovery that Umana’s Led Counsel, Wole Olanipekun and Co. has prepared unassailable legal arsenal for him.
In an article on this by Vanguard Newspaper dated 7th September 2015, the Vanguard succinctly put thus:
“Udom Emmanuel withdraws Defence Witness, hurriedly closes case with 4 witnesses”
We gathered that some of the witnesses expressed fear that they may not be able to withstand Umana’s lawyer cross-examination having read of various disappointment the other witnesses have brought upon Udom Emmanuel and PDP.
