Alleged Divert Of 2b Bailout! Gov Fayose Replies APC With Facts And Figures

FG only gave us loan to pay outstanding salaries, gratuity not included -Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Bashorun Peter Ayodele Fayose today made more clarification on the “bailout” loan/fund granted the state, he did this while responding to questions from reporters at Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort, venue of a retreat for members of state executive council, permanent secretaries and heads of non-ministerial agencies.

Hear him:

“You will recall that before I took this bailout, I called the workers and I took their permission because the effect will be on the state and them in particular.

We requested for #29b, they approved only #9.6b(about #9.6b), #8.6b or 7 for the state and about #991m for local government. Our request for LG was #5.6b but the FG through their instrument, the CBN did not approve money for gratuity and pensioners.

Don’t forget this money is not coming from me, we are like getting this money on loan with interest, so we are at the mercy of the giver. So, they did not give money for those categories(gratuity, the pensioners, leave bonus and all that…) they only sent money for basic salary.

On the local government, instead of #5.6b, they took one of the things we sent to them which was an error on their part and I have written to them since about 11 states were said to be affected and they said they are working on it.

So our people must be patient, they have a governor who is concerned like them, very concerned. So paying them will make life easy for them, by extension life easy for me, so if they are worried, I am more worried.

The federal government has promised that it will be addressed in a very short time so they should be patient and we’ll continue to dialogue with our people to let them know how far we have gone.”
