Still the king’s horseman, Jonathan’s ‘Houseboy General’ Dudafa Waripamo throws money around

Billionaire ‘Houseboy General’ Dudafa Waripamo-Owei, the former Senior Special Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Household Matters and Social Events has got the money habit, and it will be extremely difficult for him to kick it. Having amassed intimidating wealth as an aide to Goodluck Jonathan, Dudafa has finally realised that when you amass millions of dollars, you really can't spend it on a pennyworth of life.  In a nutshell, Dudafa's newfound wealth has made it impossible for him to be under the radar. Although he struggles to keep a low profile immediately they lost the election, but the way he throws money around like a drunken sailor, makes it pretty impossible for him to do so. Though his recent demeanour however, contradicts the swagger and bluster with which he carried himself around before the presidential election.

At a point in Jonathan’s government, one influential aide before whom many would genuflect was Dudafa. His words were not only laws within the corridors of power, he was also one of the very rare people who had the listening ears of the then President. According to some tales at that time, he was always the first person Goodluck would wake up to see and also the last person he must see before bed-time. He was courted by the high, mighty, powerful and influential alike. To underscore his powerful position, a former governor expressly explained with jocular tone that he preferred to be a Dudafa in Goodluck presidency rather than a vice-president.

He was a conduit through which numerous appointments, contracts and favours were facilitated and channeled to friends, families, admirers and even people barely known to him. He was made to believe that he was loved by all and sundry, especially favour-hunters.

You couldn’t have forgotten so soon his high-octane party at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos. Picturesque and chock-full of mirth, Oriental inclined to the promise of enchantment and unrestrained delight courtesy the generosity of Dudafa. The occasion was his son’s dedication. It was indeed a terrific weekend that thrust Lagos to its feet in spirited wonderment at the sheer bliss and camaraderie inspired by this moneyman. Don Perignon, Rose, XO, Ace of Spades, Courvoisier and every other kind of exotic wine and liquor was available in surplus. There was also a surplus of food and snacks for all to feast on.   Friends and families of the celebrants played appreciable roles in making the event a resounding success. Dame Patience Goodluck who flew in from Abuja to the party was undeniably, supportive.

It was a day cast in style and drama. Dudafa broke with tradition from his well-known anathema to celebrations. He showed what hospitality was all about as he treated guests to a classy display of affluence. He spared no expense to make the day a never-to-be forgotten one.

It was an evening of good menu, and an infectious atmosphere of camaraderie by those who attended. The A-listers, popular politicians, revelers and privileged invitees showed up en masse in their glad rags.
