· Ambode retrieves exotic cars and SUVs from Fashola's aides
· Why Camp Fashola fled to Bola Tinubu, what he told them
In the corrupted currents and windstorms of debt left behind by his predecessor, Babatunde Fashola, Governor Akinwumi Ambode, incumbent Lagos governor, rides the storm with the gallantry of an ancient mariner. Few weeks after he scrapped deadweight offices and sacked the various heads of spurious agencies created by his predecessor, Fashola, Governor Ambode has revoked all the Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) of all the properties that were sold by Fashola's administration.
Sources within the incumbent administration revealed that the revocation became necessary because the properties were sold to aides, politicians and friends of the former governor at very ridiculous prices. In the wake of the revocation, the affected parties trooped to two-time governor of Lagos State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu to complain; among other things, they pleaded with Tinubu to come to their rescue and urge Governor Ambode to cancel the revocation but Tinubu told them that he is not the governor of the state and he has neither the influence or the power to force Governor Ambode to return the controversially acquired properties to them.
Besides selling state property to private individuals and cronies, former Governor Fashola allegedly incurred debts amounting to N800 billion thus casting the state in dire straits, financially and economically. The Capital findings also revealed that as part of Governor Ambode's drive to rescue the state from the enormous debt mess foisted upon it by his predecessor, the state government recently moved to retrieve exotic cars, Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and other expensive acquisitions illicitly appropriated by aides of former governor of the state, Fashola. This among other measures, has deepened the dread and hatred of Governor Ambode by Fashola, his aides, friends and political associates.
