Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has hailed the contribution of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, John Odigie-Oyegun, towards the formation and victory of the party in the last elections.
Atiku said the Odigie-Oyegun deserves commendation for his “effective leadership.”
He said this on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday while congratulating the APC chairman on his 76th birthday.
Odigie-Oyegun marked his 76th birthday on Wednesay.
The former vice-president said, “The story of the APC in Nigeria, from the merger to ousting the Peoples Democratic Party from power would be incomplete without recognising Odigie-Oyegun’s effective leadership. To our capable captain in rough political seas, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, happy 76th birthday anniversary.”
Meanwhile, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has challenged Nigerian youths not to be discouraged by the situation in the country.
Mimiko, in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information, Kayode Akinmade, said this on Wednesday in Akure while addressing youths to mark this year’s edition of International Youth Day .
The governor said the challenges of unemployment and insecurity would soon be overcome.
He said that if youths failed to engage in productive ventures by utilising the various opportunities put in place by the state government in agriculture and entrepreneurship training, they would be lured into crime and other vices.
He said “I must advise youths of this nation, you are a powerful instrument of change and you must not let the challenges we are facing as a nation to discourage you. Do not allow these challenges to push you towards mortgaging your glorious future. Try and confront the challenges with a strong determination to succeed in life. You must not submit to challenges but try as much as possible to confront them.”
