Comedian Basket mouth set to show the world his Nigeria


The highly anticipated documentary series 'My Nigeria', which is a product of the Al Jazeera English brand documentary 'Hear The Human Story', is set to commence airing on the 24th of August 2015, and comedian Basket Mouth, was honoured with the opportunity to show the world Nigeria, through his eyes.

According to Al Jazeera, Bright Okpocha better known as Basketmouth is:
"… arguably Nigeria's most successful stand-up comic. Born and bred in the notorious Lagos slum Ajegunle. He discovered his gift for comedy by chance and has never looked back. His take on the Lagos elite is upbeat, irreverent and challenging."

The documentary will feature both every day, and notable Nigerians, such as Bright Okpocha aka Basket mouth, fashion designer Deola Sagoe, actress and singer, Kate Henshaw and so on.

The documentary is divided into six series which is scheduled to run for 30 minutes each, with the aim of viewing the country Nigeria, through the various perspectives of different Nigerians, in both the human aspects; the struggle and everyday life of the people,and the economic aspect; Nigeria as one of the leading economies in Africa today.

On the importance of the documentary, Ingrid Falck, the head of documentaries at Al Jazeera English says:
"The series was commissioned specifically to support Al Jazeera English's brand, to bring people's stories directly to our screens, told in a first-person style without mediation, offering a range of authentic views."
The comedian who seemed excited about the documentary series took to his Instagram page to inform his fans about it.
