Buhari reinstates NPA MD, Abdullahi

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday reinstated Mr. Habibu Abdullahi as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

He therefore relieved Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero of his appointment as the managing director of the authority.

Bayero’s appointment was one of the late hour decisions taken by former President Goodluck Jonathan shortly after losing his re-election bid in the March 28 presidential election.

Jonathan had on April 29, exactly one month to his handover date, sacked Abdullahi and replaced him with Bayero without giving any reason for his action.

But the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in a statement on Thursday, said Buhari had ordered Abdullahi’s reinstatement, with immediate effect.

Adesina said Bayero had been ordered to hand over the management of the NPA and any government’s property in his possession to the reinstated managing director.

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has terminated the appointment of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero.

“The termination of Alhaji Bayero’s appointment is with immediate effect.

“He is to hand over the management of the NPA and all government property in his possession to Mr. Habibu Abdullahi, who has been reinstated as managing director of the NPA by President Buhari.

“President Buhari wishes Alhaji Bayero well in his future endeavours.”
