AFN release list of Athletes for Beijing 2015


Joseph Mukwuzi, Per Second News---The Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN has released a list of 17 Athletes to represent the country at the forthcoming IAAF championship scheduled to take place in Beijing, China from August 20th to 30th, 2015.

The list includes six Athletes short of the initial 23 released after the Nigeria Athletics Championship in Warri, Delta state.

The Athletes are led by African and Commonwealth women Gold medallist, Blessing Okagbare, others are ighoteguonor Gloria Asumnu, Stephanie kalu, Cecilia Francis, Deborah Odeyemi, Petience Okon George and Regina George. Making up the list are Oluwatosin Adeoye, Margaret Etim, Rita Ossai, Uhunoma Osazuwa, Doreen Amata, Lindsey Wenyimi, Amaka Ogoegbunam, miles Ukaoma, Odele Tega and Tosin Oke.

In a related development the AFN has picked former long jump champion, Yusuf Ali, President of track and field coaches Association of Nigeria, Gabriel Okon and Police officer Solomon Aliyu as  coaches to train Nigerian Athletes at the Championship.

Yusuf is expected to be in charge of the Triple jump while Okon will be in charge of the sprint, the quarter mile and the relays. Solomon Aliyu on the hand would  handle the sprint hurdle.
