Ankeli EmmanuelFor becoming the first state to have used the card reader in its local government election, governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said, the state has set a good pace for others to follow.
Tambuwal, who spoke shortly after casting his vote in Tambuwal local government, admitted that, aside been very peaceful, he was satisfied with the conduct of the election.
While advising the people of the state to ensure that they retain their peaceful nature during and after the election, Tambuwal urged them to remember that they are brothers and sisters.
Speaking on his part, Senator, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko admitted that, Sokoto State have shown political maturity through admitting the potency of technolgy in ensuring transparency in Nigeria’s election in line with globally acceptable norm.
“The use of card reader machines has shown the maturity of Nigeria’s democracy. And it also goes to mean the country has come of age with the use of card reader machines during the 2015 general elections.
“Using the card reader in conducting sokoto LG election equally shows that, Nigeria is not averse to global changes and emerging positive trends. And it goes to show that Nigerians are now beginning to have tremendous confidence in the nation’s electoral system.
“At least, if not for anything, the card reader had reduced the cases of rigging and ballot boxes stuffing to the barest minimum” Sen. Wamakko said.
